I was 12 when I started getting my period, from the first month i was faced with horrific period pain which had me in the foetal position for hours either vomiting or taking strong pain relief, enough to pass out and wake feeling battered and bruised. My periods lasted for 10 days and were really heavy, I flooded out constantly which was really embarrassing at times growing up. I remember my periods getting in the way of my life, running out of my school cert English exam vomiting, falling into the ditch vomiting whilst cycling Round Lake Taupo for Duke of Edinburgh, not being believed by teachers at school & having to excuse myself regularly from sports/swimmjng and other activities that I enjoyed because of severe cramps.
I finally got a diagnosis 9 years later whilst studying at Otago university. I recovered from the first surgery fast & felt really good. 3 years later I had my second laparoscopy & 3 years later I had my third. At 28 (a year post my surgery) I was told my endo was back again, my options were another surgery asap, I was also encouraged to have a family by 30 or was unlikely to happen & I would likely need a hysterectomy within 2 years. I cannot tell you how devastated I was with this news. I fortunately discovered a massage technique that created a new normal for me, free of pain. It only took 3 massages to have my first pain free period in 17 years. I continued having these massages for 2 years to keep the pain at bay but also help me psychologically process the pain relief & keep the pain at bay. I fell pregnant naturally 2 years later with my first little boy. I now have 3 kids all conceived naturally despite my stage 4 endo diagnosis. I have now been pain free for 20 years and my periods are 3 days long, not heavy & not painful. I trained as a massage therapist to help women with endo pain. It’s helped many of my clients with pain, PCOS, fertility & other hormonal imbalances over the last 10 years I am so grateful discovering Endo massage when I did & I have made it my mission to help as many women as possible to create a new normal free of endo pain. www.bloommassage.co.nz #endomassage #bloomendomassage
